Home > News > National EV Infrastructure Legislation – Moving Forward

News out of Washington, courtesy of Plug In America. The House passed H.R. 2 (Moving Forward Act) on July 1st. This package included a number of measures designed to expand electric vehicle adoption in our nation. We expect that it will not pass in the Senate due to partisanship. However, it bodes well for our movement towards clean transportation – we expect that the measures will continue to be supported and, ultimately passed, in the future. Importantly, it can inspire local legislation and action in Hawaii.

Here’s a summary of what was included in the package.

  • Federal EV tax credit cap increase.
  • Used EV tax credit
  • Expanding Access to EVs in Underserved Communities
  • EV Charging Station rebate program.
  • Accessibility, Rest Areas and Signage
  • U.S. Postal Service to go electric
  • U.S. Federal fleet to go electric
  • Funding for State Transportation Electrification Plans
  • Utilities and Transportation Electrification
