In this update – National Drive Electric Week and Meet-Ups!

Meet-Ups!

Monthly meet-ups are a great way to for BIEVA members to share their experiences and collaborate on matters related to sustainability.  It is a great opportunity to help would-be EV owners get their questions addressed. This is an easy way to help others discover the many benefits of electric cars and to dispel any misconceptions. Importantly, it will allow us to get more electric cars on our roads! With increased adoption, we can expect charging infrastructure improvements, increased auto dealer participation, and more electric car-related services.

Upcoming Coffee and EV Meet-ups

National Drive Electric Week (NDEW)  – September 8 and 15!

This is our BIGGEST meet-up of the year. This annual event runs from September 8-17 and is a nationwide celebration of sustainable transportation. It is intended to raise public awareness of the plug-in vehicles and their many benefits. We will be hosting two events as part of this celebration.

September 8 in Kamuela at the Waimea Center (behind KTA)

September 15 in Hilo at The Home Depot (by the Garden Center)

To those who have volunteered to bring their special cars, thank you! To all EV owners, please join us and help us show how popular electric cars have become.

HELP! Our Hilo event is still in need of Tesla Model 3s. If you have one and can join, please contact me at 808 987-7428.

October Coffee and EV Meet-up

We will be at the Hilo Coffee Mill (17-995 Volcano Highway, between mile markers 12 and 13) for our regular monthly meet-up on October 6, from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM . There will be the regular farmer’s market activity during this meet-up so you can get your fresh fruits and veggies (and great coffee) during this event. EV owners are encouraged to join and share their EV ownership experience with others. Event details can be found here.

Earlier Meet-ups

The August Coffee and EV Meet-up was held at the Kilauea Lodge in Volcano. Several of our members attended and met up with local residents. Clint gave folks rides in his Tesla Model S and several ‘talked story’ over brunch. Thanks to all who participated.

If you’d like to recommend a local coffee shop for a future event, please contact us.
