Please take a moment to offer testimony in SUPPORT of a couple of bills impact EV adoption. These are being heard on Monday and Tuesday, March 9 and 10. Testimony is due 24 hours prior to the hearing.

ENFORCEMENT OF EV PARKING RULES

The first one is HB2722. This authorizes each county to adopt rules that will enforce the EV Parking rules. This may help us mitigate the misuse of EV charging parking spots, e.g., gas cars (or EVs that are not plugged in) parked in EV parking spots. Here’s the text of the measure. The hearing is on Monday, March 9 at 1:15 PM (testimony must be submitted 24 hours PRIOR).

Please submit testimony in SUPPORT of HB2722. Please also include commentary on why this is important to you.

CLEAN TRANSPORTATION GOALS

The second one is HB2699. This defines clean ground transportation goals for the state. The hearing for this one is on Tuesday, March 10, at 2:50 PM. Here’s an excerpt:

“The purpose of this Act is to begin the transition to one hundred per cent clean ground transportation in the State by establishing goals for the reduction and ultimate elimination of the use of fossil fuels for ground transportation by 2045, including a goal for the State to lead by example by transitioning one hundred per cent of its light-duty motor vehicles by 2035. The legislature recognizes the challenges of transitioning medium- and heavy-duty motor vehicles and the resultant impacts on the feasibility of completely eliminating the use of fossil fuels. This Act intends to establish a goal to help drive future clean transportation policies regardless of whether the transition is completed by 2045.”

The goals:
“(1) Thirty per cent of light-duty motor vehicles of each fleet shall be powered by renewable sources by December 31, 2025;
(2) Sixty per cent of light-duty motor vehicles of each fleet shall be powered by renewable sources by December 31, 2030; and
(3) One hundred per cent of light-duty motor vehicles of each fleet shall be powered by renewable sources by December 31, 2035.”
